COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT

Fashion as a means of communicating sustainability and achieving it’s green credentials means applying a conscious choice in how pieces are made at every stage of the process. Elisabeth Bertelmann wants to encourage a more sustainable lifestyle by finding a way to produce fashion in an environmentally and socially responsible way. We consciously give major importance to looking for fair manufacturers, innovative and sustainable materials, in order to produce in a resource-saving way. Therefore, we produce only small quantities or made-to-order pieces. In this way we are committed to working towards a collective sustainable future by being transparent. Every piece is handmade in Germany to avoid CO2-laden supply chains and to focus on a slow fashion model where we keep production local and centralised. To reduce the carbon footprint but also help encourage the change for women to wear sustainable garments confidently, items that can last for generations.

MATERIALS AND FINISHING

A "Sustainable fashion garment" is an item of value, produced with an awareness of its impact at each stage of the value chain. The fusion of textiles, silhouettes and seams is the tangible point of contact between us and our customers. That is why the choice of materials and finishing details play an important role for us, as they determine the durability, longevity and naturalness of the garment. We work with sustainable fibres and certified textiles that are biodegradable, including peace silk, tencel, hemp, linen, cotton, wool, recycled or deadstock materials. High quality manufacturing techniques that give the garment more durability and uniqueness are another sustainable aspect of the collections. To preserve and reinterpret old values, knowledge and traditions, and ultimately inspire lovers of quality to a new kind of fashion awareness.

SOCIAL & ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

A large number of individual companies are involved in the production of a garment, such as raw material farmers, spinning mills, weaving mills, knitting mills, dyeing and sewing factories. Our clear collection and local supply chain allow us the necessary transparency at every level. As justice and self-determination in the work culture are important to us, we pay attention to fair wages and humane working conditions. Through our collection, we want to consistently guarantee these shared values between manufacturers and customers and have full confidence in how our clothes are made.
